Becoming a family-type resource
Becoming a family-type resources means that you wish to welcome into your home children or adults with varying levels of intellectual disability or pervasive developmental disorders, including autism. These individuals have disabilities every day and require support and accompaniment in a stable family environment.
Your role as a family-type resources entails offering a welcoming living environment that responds to users' needs, in collaboration with employees of West Montreal Readaptation Centre (WMRC).
To become a family-type resource, you must:
- be in good physical and mental health;
- be free of any criminal record;
- offer an environment ready to integrate users as a member of the family;
- offer a stable, harmonious, welcoming environment, free of conflict or major problems;
- have stable and sufficient revenue;
- be available to respond to users' needs (medical follow-up, clinic appointments, emergencies, etc.);
- be ready to work with WMRC and users' natural family members;
- participate in all training sessions considered relevant by WMRC.
