We need you!

Among the habilitation and rehabilitation services offered by West Montreal Readaptation Centre (WMRC) in a residential context, non-institutional resources (NIR, or RNI) are options for users unable to live in their so-called natural environment.

NIRs include family-type resources (FTR) and intermediary resources (IR). There are two types of IR: family-type and group residence.

In response to the various residential needs of people with an intellectual disability (ID) or pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), WMRC is therefore constantly seeking dynamic and devoted people interested in becoming an FTR or IR.

If you are interested, these options offer you the opportunity to play an important role in the lives of our users, which can be very rewarding. In addition, your contribution will be recognized and justly compensated.

Please read on to find out more about family-type resources, family-type intermediary resources and group residence intermediary resources, as well as our values and our selection process.

Respite care

It is often difficult for families and single parents responsible for someone with complex needs to find time for themselves or the rest of the family. The strain of full-time care can threaten family relationships and the ability to care for that person.

If you have room in your home, and are able to care for a WMRC user on a short-term basis, you could provide crucial help to someone on the waiting list for respite.

Although most respite stays are on week-ends, there is also a great need for it during the week.

Please call Access Services at 514 363-3025, ext. 2256, if you would like to apply to be a respite care provider.
